In June 2024, Tafsik Organization received a poignant message from Israel. A kibbutz named Kfar Szold, situated just 5.5 kilometers from the Lebanese border, was under constant threat from missiles launched by Hezbollah. The woman who reached out explained that, according to Israeli regulations, communities within 5 kilometers of the border were to be evacuated. Unfortunately, their kibbutz fell just outside this mandated zone. She shared a heartbreaking detail: her 4-year-old daughter could distinguish between Hezbollah rockets and Israeli ones based solely on their sounds, a skill learned from the overwhelming number of missiles that had passed overhead. Desperate for relief, she asked if Tafsik could help provide their children with a break for the summer. We immediately agreed. With the support of our community, Tafsik and our partners organized a fundraising effort to bring 13 children and 2 older teenagers to Canada, where they would attend Camp Northland. Thanks to the generous contributions, we were also able to extend their stay for an additional four days of sightseeing and fun. This initiative was made possible entirely through the support of the Jewish community, showcasing the incredible impact we can achieve when we come together to help those in need. The children were here between July 25th – August 18th 2024. These are the highlights!
