An Evening of Hope, Resilience, and Courage in the Wake of Tragedy – Feb. 2nd @7pm

Join us for a powerful evening featuring Professor Ruth Halperin-Kaddari, a distinguished expert who has gathered testimonies on the sexual war crimes committed during the October 7th attacks at the Nova Festival and nearby kibbutzim in Israel.

You will also have an opportunity to hear from two  exceptional individuals whose voices will deepen your understanding of resilience and hope in the aftermath of such  unimaginable violence:

  • Gillian Freeman, Executive Director of Victim Services of York Region, will share her invaluable insights on survivor resilience. With years of experience in crisis intervention, domestic violence services, and victim assistance, Gillian will highlight the incredible strength and potential for healing among survivors and their families.

  • Maureen Leshem will share her deeply personal and moving story of fighting for her cousin, Romi’s, freedom from captivity. Maureen’s courage and determination in the face of adversity is a testament to the power of family, love, and unyielding hope.

This session will equip you with the knowledge and tools to challenge denial, foster open dialogue, and provide understanding and support, paving the way for collective healing for victims and the broader community. Your presence is not just important—it is essential in ensuring these truths are acknowledged and never erased.
